River Valley Run Trail Festival

The Legacy of the River Valley Run: Honoring 16 Years of Impact

As we move forward, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey of the River Valley Run Trail Festival, a cherished event that was a cornerstone of our community for 16 remarkable years. Last October, we hosted the final race of this beloved tradition, marking the conclusion of an era that has left an indelible mark on countless lives.

When we launched the River Valley Run over a decade and a half ago, our vision was clear: to create a significant fundraiser that would provide camp scholarships, opening the door for children from all walks of life to experience the transformative power of summer camp at RVR. Over the years, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of our community, we've been able to make a profound impact on hundreds of young lives, while also earning national recognition as one of the top trail races in the country.

However, as we evaluated the future of the event, we recognized that the River Valley Run could no longer effectively fulfill its original purpose as a major fundraiser for our camp scholarship program. The resources required to organize such an event, coupled with a nationwide decline in participation in running events and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, led us to the bittersweet decision to conclude the River Valley Run.

While the race has come to an end, our commitment to our mission remains as strong as ever. We are exploring new and innovative ways to secure the funding needed to continue providing camp scholarships to children in need. The spirit of the River Valley Run lives on in our dedication to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience a life-changing week at RVR.

If you were a sponsor of the River Valley Run and would like to continue your support by becoming a camp sponsor, please contact us. Your partnership can help sustain our scholarship program and make a lasting impact on the lives of deserving children.

Additionally, if you feel led to help send a child to camp who cannot afford it, we invite you to contribute to our scholarship fund. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue this vital work.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who played a part in the success of the River Valley Run over the years—participants, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners. Your unwavering support and enthusiasm have been truly remarkable, and we are forever grateful for the memories, friendships, and positive impact that this event has brought to our community.

As we close this chapter, we invite you to stay connected with us as we continue our mission and explore new opportunities to make a difference in the lives of children. While the River Valley Run has ended, the possibility of reimagining it in a different form or introducing new events in the future remains open.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey with us. We look forward to the future and the continued opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus and create lasting change in our community.

With heartfelt appreciation,
The RVR Team
