Fort Roller Cadets Preview

Only 2 nights— perfect for kids trying their first sleepaway camp experience!

Is a full week of summer camp just a bit too long for your young camper? Fort Roller Cadets Preview is only 3 days and 2 nights away from home, so you can still come out and learn the summer camp ropes. It's the perfect transition from our Day Camp program into an overnight summer camp program, with many of the same fun and exciting activities offered in our week-long version of Fort Roller Cadets, just packed into half the time! Available the first half of week 8 (Sunday to Tuesday), and if that fills a Wednesday to Friday session will be added.

RVR understands that younger campers need to be nurtured. That’s why we go to great lengths to hire counselors that are "wired" just right for this age group, and prepare a program that is a perfect balance of fun, rest, and faith lessons (sample schedule below). Have kids older than 7-9? Learn about RVR's other weeklong Maryland summer camps!

Daily Schedule & Camp Activities

The sample schedule below lays out what your Cadets Preview experience will look like. During the morning activity time, Cadets will participate in age appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, archery, low ropes course, or pool time. The goal of this time is for campers to connect with each other and grow through new experiences.

The afternoon offers further new experiences with their bunkmates and counselors as they explore a different engaging part of campus, Frontier Town, which includes RVR's indoor gym, gaga, the creek, game room, and RVR's camp stores (Craft Shop, Wagon Wheel snack shop, and Tradin' Post merch). Then they'll head back up the hill for a special daily activity.

Evenings include a lively dinner meal time at Hilltop Hall with the other Fort Roller programs, a service with songs, skits and stories/lessons, and yet another special daily activity before winding down for the night.
