Where does the money come from?
Scholarships are made possible through direct donations of individuals and organizations. Scholarship money is not raised from the fees we charge our campers.
Camp Scholarship Application
We begin accepting scholarship applications on October 1st each year, for the following summer camp season.
Summer Camp Scholarship Program
RVR provides limited scholarship assistance to campers with financial need. While we aim to make camp accessible to all and it is our desire that no child miss out on the RVR experience, our funds are limited, so we encourage you to explore other sources of aid before applying.
If you're applying for multiple children, please submit each child's individual information in the place noted in the form below.
Note: You will only be contacted if selected for a scholarship. We keep applications on file through the spring and summer in case additional funds become available.
How scholarships work?
Once your application is submitted, selected applicants will be notified by email. You will then work with our scholarship coordinator to determine the level of assistance. If you have already registered, we will apply the scholarship to your existing registration. If not, you’ll be asked to register and notify us once it's complete so we can apply the scholarship.
To secure your spot, you must complete registration and pay the $100 deposit within 2 weeks, or the scholarship will expire. Without the deposit, your registration will remain pending, and your camper’s spot will not be held.
The amounts of scholarship assistance for overnight camp that can be considered:
- up to $870 for one child families
- up to $600 each for 2 child families
- up to $500 each for 3 child families
You are responsible for any remaining balance after your scholarship is applied. Financial Aid Scholarships cannot be combined with other discounts.
Who is eligible?
All prospective campers in financial need are eligible to apply. Campers who have not received aid before will be considered first. Applicants who have received aid in the past may still be eligible for aid as well so go ahead and apply even if you have received aid in the past.
Will I get one for sure?
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee every request will be granted. We receive applications from over 400 prospective campers each year and normally only have funding for around 300 of those. Each application is reviewed and awards are made based on a number of different criteria.
Does this application process register my child for camp?
No. If you are selected to receive a scholarship from RVR, you will get an email telling you so with instructions on how to register your camper and apply the scholarship. It is not until you receive that email that you have been selected for a scholarship. Once you follow that link to register, select a camp/week, add in the discount code and pay the deposit, your child will be actually registered for camp.
If you have already registered for camp, we will manually apply the scholarship to your existing registration.
